SEND

The Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Network is managed by AoC London with support from Natspec. It aims to provide practitioners working on SEND in the education and training sector opportunities to share practice, knowledge and ideas. At their first meeting on 14 April, the Network identified the following 10 areas as the top challenges the exchange should focus on:

  • Transition to FE from school
  • Transition to employment and employer engagement
  • Support for students doing apprenticeships or supported internships  / understanding systematic instruction
  • Preparation for adulthood (from an earlier age)
  • Mental health issues
  • RARPA
  • English and maths
  • Providing holistic support in an exam-based culture
  • Assistive technology to support learning
  • Attendance

The Network is supported virtually by a Yammer Network, where the members can share resources, exchange ideas, arrange meetings etc. Key outcomes from the SEND professional exchange network will be shared on this blog.
